CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Because he is still suffering the effects of a concussion, Carolina linebacker Dan Morgan Wednesday was placed on the season injured reserve list.
The designation means the 6-foot-2 inch, 245-pound Morgan is done for the 2006 season.
Before the designation, the former first-round draft pick out of Miami (Fla.) in 2001 had not been able to practice.
The hard-hitting linebacker also sustained a concussion in a pre-season game against Jacksonville, which was the sixth of his career.
"He did meet with the medical people and they felt it was in his best interest not to play the remainder of the season," said Panthers coach John Fox on the team's Web site.
"That's the hand I was dealt, and I've just got to keep a positive attitude and look forward to next year," Morgan said. "I will come back next season and have a big season."
