Davydenko leads winners at Moscow

MOSCOW, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Native son and top-seeded Russian Nikolay Davydenko Wednesday was an easy second-round winner at the men's Kremlin Cup tennis tournament in Moscow.

Davydenko beat wild card and countryman Teimuraz Gabashvili, 6-4, 6-2.

In a major surprise, second-seeded Russian Dmitry Tursunov lost to qualifier Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), in a first-round encounter.

Also, Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia topped No. 8 Paul-Henri Mathieu of France, 7-6 (10-8), 6-4.

Max Mirnyi of Belarus beat American Kevin Kim, 6-0, when Kim retired after losing the first set, 6-0.

Qualifier Konstantin Kravchuk of Russia beat Hyung-Taik Lee of Korea, 6-4, 6-4; Igor Kunitsyn of Russia was a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 winner over Jan Hernych of the Czech Republic; and Evgeny Korolev of Russia beat Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan, 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (5-7), 6-3.
