Gonzalez moves into second round in Vienna

VIENNA, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Fifth-seeded Chilean Fernando Gonzalez was among Monday's first-round winners at the BA-CA Tennis Trophy tournament in Vienna.

Gonzalez got past Frenchman Gilles Simon 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 in his first action since he suffered a third-round loss at the U.S. Open last month.

Austrian Oliver Marach beat fellow countryman Rainer Eitzinger 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (8-6).

In other action, German Florian Mayer mauled Italian Alessio Di Mauro 6-2, 6-0; Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka beat Croatian Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-1; and Slovak Dominik Hrbaty beat Italian Simone Bolelli 6-2, 6-4.
