SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Evgeni Nabokov made 26 saves and recorded his 28th shutout as the San Jose Sharks beat the New York Islanders, 2-0, Saturday night.

Matthew Carle and Christian Ehrhoff each scored a goal for the Sharks, who have opened the season with two straight wins.

Rick DiPietro made 25 saves for the Islanders, who are 2-0. They opened their season with a 6-3 loss in Phoenix Thursday.

The Sharks went 2-for-6 on the power play while the Islanders failed to score in five power play chances.
