NHL: Anaheim 2, Phoenix 1

GLENDALE, Ariz., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Ilja Bryzgalov made 34 saves Saturday night as the Anaheim Ducks beat the Phoenix Coyotes, 2-1.

Teemu Selanne and Dustin Penner scored the goals for the Ducks, who have opened their season with two straight wins.

Zbynek Michalek scored the only goal and Curtis Joseph had 23 saves in the loss for the Coyotes, who opened their season with a 6-3 win over the Islanders on Thursday.

Anaheim went 2-for-5 on the power play. Phoenix scored once on six power-play chances.
