MLS: NY Red Bulls 1, Colorado 1

DENVER, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- The New York Red Bulls put themselves in a must-win situation next week with its 1-1 tie with Colorado at Invesco Field.

New York entered the match tied with Kansas City for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. However, the Wizards picked up the full three points in their 2-1 win over Chivas USA, leaving the Red Bulls two points behind.

Jacob Peterson gave the Rapids an early advantage Saturday night, hitting his third goal of the season only four minutes into the match.

Amado Guevara pulled the visitors level in 60th minute as he emerged from a pack of defenders with the ball and drilled a low hard shot past Joe Cannon.

The pace slowed following the goal with both teams seemingly content to settle for point.

The teams observed a moment of silence prior to the second half for former Rapids head coach Glenn "Mooch" Myernick, who in the intensive care unit of a Denver hospital after suffering a heart attack Thursday.
