
GAINESVILLE, Fla., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Freshman Tim Tebow passed for two touchdowns and ran for another Saturday as the fifth-ranked Florida Gators beat the 10th-ranked LSU Tigers, 23-10.
Tebow threw just two passes but both were for TDs and he also ran for 35 yards for the Gators (6-0, 4-0 SEC), who opened a season with six straight wins for the sixth time in school history, but the first since 1996.
Starting Florida quarterback Chris Leak completed 17-of-26 passes for 155 yards with an interception while Dallas Baker made four catches for 46 yards, as Florida won its eighth straight game dating back to last season.
JaMarcus Russell completed 24-of-41 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown, but he was intercepted three times for the Tigers (4-2, 1-2).
Craig Davis made eight catches for 85 yards in the loss.
