NFL: Carolina 21, New Orleans 18

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- DeShaun Foster rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown Sunday as Carolina beat New Orleans, 21-18, handing the Saints their first loss of the season.

Foster gained 105 yards on 16 carries; Jake Delhomme was 19-of-29 passing for 169 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions; Steve Smith had one touchdown 10 receptions for 87 yards; and Drew Carter also caught a scoring pass for the Panthers (2-2).

Delhomnme's four-yard touchdown pass to Carter with 7:15 left put Carolina in front for good.

Drew Brees was 28-of-38 for 349 yards and one touchdown; Deuce McAllister ran for one touchdown on 11 carries for 39 yards; rookie running back Reggie Bush had 22 yards on 11 carries and made four catches for 48 yards; Marques Colston had a touchdown on five catches for 132 yards; and Joe Horn had five catches for 63 yards for the Saints (3-1).
