Tommie Harris' wife dies

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.Y., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Josmer Altidore scored the game's only goal in the 60th minute Saturday night as New York beat Chicago, 1-0.
The Red Bulls needed to win to keep pace with fourth-place Kansas City in the Eastern Conference, and got help from goalkeeper Jon Conway, who stopped the only shot on goal for the Fire (12-10-8).
Matt Pickens had to make four saves on New York's five shots on goal.
Marvell Wynne and Danny O'Rourke had assists on Altidore's goal for the Red Bulls (8-11-11).
The 16-year-old Altidore, normally a substitution, scored his third goal of the season and Chicago suffered only its third loss since the All-Star break.
