LUXEMBOURG, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Italy's Francesca Schiavone will try to win her first title in Sunday's final at the Fortis Championship in Luxembourg.
In Saturday's semifinals, Schiavone, the fifth seed, beat upstart Agnieszka Radwanska, the 17-year-old from Poland, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1.
Schiavone's opponent on Sunday will be unseeded Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine, who topped Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5.
In the biggest week of her young career, Radwanska beat Venus Williams and Elena Dementieva on her way to the semifinals.
Schiavone beat Bondarenko in straight sets in the first round of this year's French Open for the only previous meeting between the two.
"I lost some energy in one service game early in the second and she broke me," Schiavone said. "It was tough to fight, so I decided I would focus on coming back at the beginning of the third set."
Sunday's winner will pocket $95,500.
