MLB: Baltimore 5, Boston 4

BOSTON, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Kevin Millar hit a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning Saturday night as Baltimore edged Boston, 5-4.

Chris Gomez had three hits and two RBI; David Newhan hit a sacrifice fly; and Millar had one run, two hits, and two RBI for the Orioles (70-91), who have won two of their last three games.

The winner was closer Chris Ray (4-4).

Manny Ramirez clubbed a solo home run and had two hits; Trot Nixon hit an RBI double and scored twice; Dustin Pedroia drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk; and Carlos Pena had two hits and one RBI for the Red Sox (85-76), who have four losses in their last six games.

The losing pitcher was Mike Timlin (6-6).
