COL FB: USC 28, Washington St 22

PULLMAN, Wash., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Steve Smith had two touchdowns and 186 receiving yards on 11 catches Saturday as second-ranked Southern Cal defeated Washington State, 28-22.

John David Booty completed 23-of-32 passes for 269 yards with three touchdowns and an interception for the Trojans (4-0, 2-0 Pac-10), who extended their league-record conference winning streak to 25 games. USC has extended its school best road-winning streak to 18 games.

Chauncey Washington rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown while Chris McFoy made a TD catch in the win.

Alex Brink threw for 287 yards on 26-of-46 passing with two TD passes and one pick for the Cougars (3-2, 1-1), who had a three-game winning streak halted. Michael Bumpus made 11 catches for 112 yards while Jason Hill and Dwight Tardy each caught a touchdown pass.
