COL FB: Tennessee 41, Memphis 7

MEMPHIS, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Eric Ainge passed for 320 yards and four touchdowns Saturday afternoon as No. 15 Tennessee buried Memphis, 41-7.

Freshman LaMarcus Coker gained 122 yards on 24 carries; David Yancey ran for a touchdown; Robert Meachem had four catches for 157 yards and one touchdown; Jayson Swain caught three passes for 64 yards and two scores; Bret Smith made five receptions for 49 yards and one touchdown; and James Wilhoit kicked two field goals for the Volunteers (4-1).

For the Tigers (1-3), quarterback Martin Hankins was 11-of-17 passing for 80 yards, one touchdown, and one interception; while Duke Calhoun caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Hankins in the fourth quarter and totaled 30 yards on three receptions.

Memphis, a member of Conference USA, was held to 43 yards on the ground and 121 total yards. Tennessee had 566 total yards in the non-SEC contest.
