MUMBAI, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Tommy Robredo won but No. 2 seeded Mario Ancic lost his quarterfinal match Friday in the $380,000 Kingfisher Airlines Tennis Open in Mumbai.
Robredo, from Spain, defeated Paraguay's Ramon Delgado 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) to move into the tournament semifinals. In Saturday's semifinals he will meet Russian Dmitry Tursunov, the fourth seed, who beat British qualifier James Auckland 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Ancic fell victim to Austrian Stefan Koubek in three sets. The second-seeded player from Croatia took the first set but dropped the last two in a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 loss.
Koubek advances to a semifinal match with No. 3 seed Tomas Berdych, from the Czech Republic. Berdych stopped No. 6 German Bjorn Phau 6-3, 7-5 Friday.
The tournament at the Cricket Club of India concludes with its finals Sunday. The winner of that match takes home $52,000.
