
ATLANTA, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Edgar Renteria and Chipper Jones hit solo home runs Friday night to help Atlanta beat the Houston Astros, 4-1.
Jones drove in two runs; Renteria had two runs and two hits; Andruw Jones hit an RBI single; and Pete Orr had a run and two hits for the Braves (78-82), who have won three of their last four games, but will miss the post-season for the first time since 1990.
Winner Chuck James (11-4) gave up one run and only four hits in seven innings with two walks and eight strikeouts.
Bob Wickman recorded his 32nd save.
Craig Biggio hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning; and Adam Everett had three hits for the Astros (81-79), who had a nine-game winning streak snapped.
Losing pitcher Roger Clemens (7-6) allowed only two runs and six hits in six innings with no walks and seven strikeouts.
