They are tied for second at 5-under 67.

"It's night and day out here, it's unbelievable," said Trahan, who was one of a number of players criticizing the Bermuda greens installed this summer on the course at the Annandale Golf Club.

Six players -- Ted Purdy, Brad Faxon, Jason Gore, Mathias Gronberg, Skip Kendall, and Henrik Bjornstad -- are tied for fifth place at 4-under 68.

Defending champion Heath Slocum opened with a 5-over 77.
