Quarterfinals set for Kingfisher Open

MUMBAI, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Spain's Tommy Robredo was among the top four seeds who posted victories Thursday in the second round of the $380,000 Kingfisher Airlines Tennis Open in Mumbai.

Robredo, the top seed in the tournament, defeated Germany's Michael Berrer 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 while No. 2 seeded Mario Ancic, from Croatia, beat Italy's Stefano Galvani 6-1, 7-6 (8-6); No. 3 Tomas Berdych, from the Czech Republic, got by Germany's Simon Greul 7-6 (7-4), 6-4; and No. 4 Russian Dmitry Tursunov topped Denmark's Kristian Pless 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-4.

Robredo will next face Paraguay's Ramon Delgado while Ancic is paired against Austrian Stefan Koubek. Berdych is scheduled to play sixth-seeded German Bjorn Phau in the quarters, while Tursunov will meet British qualifier James Auckland.

After Friday's quarterfinals, the tournament moves to semifinal play Saturday and finals on Sunday. The winner of the Kingfisher Airlines Tennis Open takes home $52,000.
