PALERMO, Italy, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Third-seeded Frenchman Gilles Simon and fourth-seeded Spaniard Nicolas Almagro won Tuesday at the rainy Campionati Internazionali di Sicilia tennis tournament.

Simon got past Italian favorite Andreas Seppi, 6-0, 6-7 (6-8), 6-2, while Almagro beat Austrian Oliver Marach, 6-1, 6-4, before rain ruined the day's schedule. Six other matches were either suspended or postponed until Wednesday due to inclement weather.

In two other results, Jan Hajek beat fellow Czech Bohdan Ulihrach, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), and Spaniard Oscar Hernandez defeated German Philipp Kohlschreiber, 6-1, 6-1.
