SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Eric Axley Sunday was a first time winner at the Texas Open Golf Tournament in San Antonio.

Axley beat a trio of players -- Anthony Kim (65), Justin Rose (68), and Dean Wilson (69) - by three shots.

That trio was 12-under 268 overall and finished in a tie for second place.

"It got a little shaky there, but I held it together," Axley admitted. "It feels unbelievable."

The 32-year-old Axley, who is left-handed, is a rookie on the PGA Tour.

His winner's check of $720,000 was almost 3 1/2 times what he had earned in all his previous PGA Tour starts.

Frank Lickliter (71) and Chris Riley (71) tied for fifth place at 11-under 269.
