
SEATTLE, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Matt Hasselbeck threw for five touchdowns Sunday as the Seattle Seahawks beat the New York Giants, 42-30.
The Seahawks led, 35-3, at halftime held on for the win, despite a furious 27-point, fourth-quarter Giants rally.
Hasselbeck was 24-of-33 passing for 227 yards, the five touchdowns and three interceptions. Shaun Alexander had 47 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries, despite not playing in the second half because of a foot ailment.
Bobby Engram caught two touchdown passes, and Darrell Jackson, Nate Burleson and Will Heller each caught a touchdown pass for the Seahawks (3-0).
Eli Manning was 24-of-36 for 275 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. David Tyree had five receptions for 72 yards and one touchdown.
Tiki Barber ran for 64 yards on 14 attempts, and Tim Carter and Amani Toomer also caught touchdown passes for the Giants (1-2).
