MLB: Philadelphia 5, Florida 2

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Ryan Howard hit his 58th home run of the season Friday night as Philadelphia beat the Florida Marlins, 5-2.

The home run was a three-run blast in the bottom of the third inning.

Chase Utley and Jeff Conine hit RBI singles, Utley had three hits, and Chris Coste had two hits for the Phillies (80-73), who have a three-game winning streak.

In 6 2/3 innings, winner Cole Hamels (9-8) gave up one run and six hits with three walks and 10 strikeouts.

Tom Gordon recorded his 33rd save.

Miguel Cabrera and Miguel Olivo each hit RBI singles; and Cabrera, Dan Uggla, Wes Helms and Hanley Ramirez all had two hits for the Marlins (76-78), who have split their last four games.

Losing pitcher Ricky Nolasco (11-10) gave up four runs and seven hits in 3 2/3 innings with three walks and six strikeouts.
