ATLANTA, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Anthony Morrow, a junior guard on the men's basketball team at Georgia Tech, will miss 6-8 weeks after suffering a stress fracture in his back.
Coach Paul Hewitt made the announcement on Friday.
"We have decided to shut him down and give him every chance to be 100 percent healthy before we start the regular season on Nov. 10," Hewitt said on the team's Web site. "Anthony had a great summer and made significant progress in many areas. Hopefully, this will not set him back too far."
Last season, the 6-foot-5 inch Morrow, a native of Charlotte, N.C., averaged a team-high 16 points per game, and led the Atlantic Coast Conference in three-point shooting percentage (42.9).
Hewitt said Morrow's injury was diagnosed earlier this week.
