MLB: Arizona 8, San Diego 2

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Alberto Callaspo had three hits and three RBI Wednesday night to help Arizona beat San Diego, 8-2.

Eric Byrnes had two runs and two hits, including a two-run single; Luis Gonzalez had a run and three hits; Johnny Estrada, Chad Tracy and Conor Jackson each had one RBI; and both Jackson and Estrada had three hits for the Diamondbacks (72-79), who have three wins in their last five games.

Winner Edgar Gonzalez (2-3) allowed one run and six hits in seven innings with no walks and three strikeouts.

Josh Bard hit a solo home run, and Adrian Gonzalez hit an RBI single and two of the eight hits for the Padres (79-72), who have split their last six games.

Losing pitcher David Wells (0-2) surrendered four runs and 11 hits in 6 1/3 innings with one walk and five strikeouts.
