
WASHINGTON, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Brian McCann, Andruw Jones and Jeff Francoeur hit home runs Wednesday night as Atlanta beat the Washington Nationals, 7-3.
McCann's homer was a three-run blast in the top of the third inning. Jones also hit an RBI single in the top of the first, and Francoeur hit a solo shot in the top of the sixth.
Edgar Renteria hit an RBI double; Jones, Francoeur and Pete Orr all had two hits; and Chipper Jones scored twice for the Braves (74-78), who have won four of their last five games.
Winner Lance Cormier (4-5) surrendered six hits and two runs in 6 1/3 innings.
Bernie Castro and Brandon Harper hit RBI singles, and Ryan Zimmerman hit a solo home run, scored twice and had two of the eight hits for the Nationals (66-86), who have split their last four games.
Loser Ramon Ortiz (10-15) gave up five runs and eight hits in five innings.
