CHICAGO, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Magglio Ordonez hit two solo homers off his former team Monday as the Detroit Tigers extended their division lead with an 8-2 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Brandon Inge had a three-run homer and Craig Monroe added a two-run homer and three RBI. The Tigers extended their margin in the American League Central to 1 1/2 games over the idle Minnesota Twins.

The defending World Series champion White Sox are six games back of the Tigers.

Kenny Rogers (16-6) won his fifth straight decision over his last seven outings, with his last defeat on Aug. 12. He allowed four hits, walked four and struck out two over six innings to give the Tigers their third victory in their last four games.

Mark Buehrle (12-13) allowed 10 hits and four runs in 6 2/3 innings in defeat. Jim Thome hit his 40th homer of the season for the White Sox.
