PORTOROZ, Slovenia, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Czech Iveta Benesova defeated third-seeded Sybille Bammer" class="tpstyle">Austrian Sybille Bammer in first-round action Monday at the Slovenia Open.
Benesova beat Bammer 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
In other opening-round play, Estonian Maret Ani defeated France's Camille Pin 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) and Bulgarian Tszvetana Pironkova beat Croatian wild card Sanja Ancic 6-1, 6-1.
