NFL: Denver 9, Kansas City 6 (OT)

DENVER, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Jason Elam kicked a 39-yard field goal with 9:50 remaining in overtime Sunday to give the Denver Broncos a 9-6 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Denver was shut out in the first half, but Elam kicked three field goals in the second half.

Jake Plummer was 16-of-30 for 173 yards with no touchdowns and an interception for Denver (1-1). Tatum Bell rushed for 69 yards on 16 carries and Javon Walker caught five passes for 79 yards.

Damon Huard was 17-of-23 for 133 yards replacing the injured Trent Green, and Larry Johnson had 126 yards on 27 carries for the Chiefs (0-2).

Green suffered a severe concussion during the third quarter of last week's game and could be out for a month.
