LOS ANGELES, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- The University of Southern California refuses comment on charges running back Reggie Bush and his family accepted improper benefits while Bush was at USC.
An eight-month probe by Yahoo! Sports reveals the Heisman Trophy winner's family was provided with such things as airfare, limousine service, hotel stays, clothing and weekly payments, Yahoo! Sports reports.
The benefits, adding up to more than $100,000, came from marketing agents trying to woo Bush as a client while he was playing football for the Trojans.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the men providing the benefits were current Bush agent Mike Ornstein and one of his employees, along with Michael Michaels and Lloyd Lake, who were attempting to launch their own agency and wanted Bush as their first client.
An NCAA investigation into the matter began in April after Yahoo! Sports reported Bush's family had not paid rent after living for a year in a home owned by Michaels.
If the NCAA finds that Bush received extra benefits during his playing career at USC, he could be ruled retroactively ineligible, putting both USC's 2004 national championship season and Bush's 2005 Heisman Trophy in jeopardy.
