HOUSTON, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Houston and Green Bay Wednesday swapped running backs, with Samkon Gado going to the Texans and Vernand Morency going to the Packers.
Gado led Green Bay in rushing as a rookie last season with 582 yards and six touchdowns in 143 rushing attempts, but was held to minus seven yards on only two carries in Green Bay's season-opening 26-0 loss to the Chicago Bears last Sunday.
Morency, who was a third-round draft pick by the Texans in 2005 out of Oklahoma State, gained 13 yards on five carries in Houston's 24-10 loss to Philadelphia.
The trade appears to make rookie Wali Lundy from the University of Virginia Houston's top running back.
Against the Eagles, Lundy, a sixth-round draft pick, gained 32 yards on 11 carries.
There was no word on whether Gado would play this week at Indianapolis.
