SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Armando Benitez is out for the rest of the season with inflammation on his right knee.

Benitez, 4-2, has been put on the 60-day disabled list, the team said Thursday. He has a 3.52 earned run average and 17 saves this season. He ranks seventh among active pitchers with 280 career saves.

The Giants purchased the contract rights of right-handed pitcher Billy Sadler from Triple-A Fresno to replace Benitez on the roster.
