
NASHVILLE, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Chad Pennington passed for 319 yards and two touchdowns Sunday afternoon as the New York Jets beat the Tennessee Titans, 23-16.
Pennington completed 24 of his 33 passes. Laveranues Coles made eight catches for 153 yards, Jerricho Cotchery had six catches for 65 yards and one touchdown, Derrick Blaylock rushed for 36 yards on 19 carries, while both Kevan Barlow and Chris Baker scored touchdowns for the Jets (1-0).
Kerry Collins was 17-of-38 for 223 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. Drew Bennett made eight catches for 106 yards, Bobby Wade had five receptions for 76 yards, and Chris Brown gained 64 yards on 16 carries for the Titans (0-1).
The Titans' top draft pick, quarterback Vincent Young, was 3-of-4 for 27 yards and one interception.
