PITTSBURGH, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Running back Najeh Davenport, who spent four seasons with the Green Bay Packers, has signed a 1-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Terms were not disclosed. Davenport was among Green Bay's final cuts last weekend.

Though he has been injury prone, Davenport racked up 1,068 yards and seven touchdowns in 39 games as a backup to Green Bay's Ahman Green.

The good news for Davenport was bad news for rookie running back Patrick Cobbs. The Steelers released him to open up a spot for Davenport after claiming him off waivers from the Patriots.
