CRANS MONTANA, Switzerland, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- U.S. teen golf sensation Michelle Wie failed to make the cut at the Euro Masters tournament in Switzerland Friday after posting a round of 8-over-par 79.
The 16-year-old Hawaiian was making her first attempt to advance in a men's event on the European Tour, but consecutive bogies on the 14th and 15th holes gave her a two-day total of 15-over-par 157. The cut line was plus one.
On Friday, Wie was dead last among the 152 players, 22 shots behind co-leaders Bradley Dredge, Andrew McLandy and Marcel Siem, who were knotted at 7-under 135.
"Days like this don't scare me away," said Wie, who plans to play in the PGA's Lumber Classic next week.
Wie has missed the cut in nine of the 10 men's tournaments she has played in.
