SAN DIEGO, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Pinch hitter Paul McAnulty's two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning helped the San Diego Padres beat Colorado, 2-0, Wednesday night.
McAnulty's first major league home run helped the Padres stay on top in the National League wild-card race -- and one game behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.
Cla Meredith (5-1) ran his scoreless streak to 29 innings as the Padres won their fifth straight game, and their 12th out of 16.
San Diego starter Clay Hensley gave up three hits over seven innings.
Garrett Atkins and Matt Holliday each had two hits for the Rockies.
Colorado starter Jason Jennings threw seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out nine and walking four.
