Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Chris Rolfe and Diego Gutierrez each scored a goal Sunday as Chicago beat New York, 2-1, in a Major League Soccer match in Bridgeview, Ill.
The Fire (9-8-8) has won four of its last five matches and hold second place in the Eastern Conference with 35 points.
John Wolyniec scored his fourth goal of the year for the Red Bulls (6-8-11), who had a three-match winning streak snapped. New York is fifth in the East, one point out of a playoff spot.
New York had a season-high 13 shots on goal to 10 for Chicago. Chicago goalie Matt Pickens made seven saves and New York's Tony Meola made four.
