
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- John David Booty threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns as the third-ranked Southern California Trojans beat the Arkansas Razorbacks, 50-14, Saturday night.
Booty completed 24-of-35 passes with no interceptions. Chauncey Washington picked up 55 yards rushing on eight carries, Emmanuel Moody carried for 58 yards and a TD, and C.J. Gable rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Steve Smith had five catches for 67 yards, and Fred Davis caught five passes for 59 yards and a touchdown for the Trojans (1-0).
Mario Danelo kicked field goals of 35, 38 and 44 yards for USC, which rolled up 489 yards of total offense.
Robert Johnson completed just 12-of-25 passes for 110 yards, and was intercepted twice, as Arkansas (0-1), lost its first season opener in nine seasons under Head Coach Houston Nutt.
Damian Williams had four catches for 61 yards and Felix Jones rushed for 48 yards on seven carries.
