SAN DIEGO, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Rich Aurilia drove in two runs and slammed a homer of his own to lead the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-2 victory over the Padres in San Diego.

Bronson Arroyo (11-9) allowed just two runs on four hits along with three walks and four strike-outs in seven innings to earn the Friday night win, which positions Cincinnati half a game behind the Padres and tied with Philadelphia in the race for the wild card.

Scott Hatteberg helped the Reds break their six-game losing streak with a pair of hits, two runs scored and a run batted in for the Reds.

Padres pitcher Clay Hensley (8-11) allowed four runs on seven hits in his five innings. He also walked three and struck out four.
