Tommie Harris' wife dies

DENVER, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Ramon Nunez and Richard Mulrooney each scored a goal in helping FC Dallas to a 2-0 MLS victory over the Colorado Rapids.
The shutout Wednesday by goalkeeper Dario Sala allowed Dallas, 13-8-3, to break a three-game losing streak and increase its lead in the MLS Western Conference to 6 points. Colorado, 9-10-5, slipped into a tie with Real Salt Lake for the final conference playoff spot.
Nunez had the game's first goal, taking a crossing pass from Ronnie O'Brien and directing the ball into the left corner to beat Colorado goalkeeper Joe Cannon in the game's 25th minute.
Mulrooney made the score 2-0 in the 57th minute, drilling a shot off the post for his first goal of the season.
