MLB: Kansas City 4, Minnesota 3

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Andres Blanco's RBI single in the top of the ninth inning produced the eventual winning run Wednesday night as Kansas City edged Minnesota, 4-3.

Mike Sweeney had two runs, two hits and two RBI; Ryan Shealy also hit an RBI single; while Shealy, Mark Grudzielanek and Joey Gathright all had two hits for the Royals (49-85), who won have won two in a row, but only four of their last 10 games.

Winner Luke Hudson (7-5) scattered two runs and five hits over seven innings with one walk and five strikeouts.

Joe Nelson recorded his fourth save.

Michael Cuddyer hit two homers and drove in all three runs, Luis Castillo had a run and two hits, and Cuddyer had three hits for the Twins (76-55), who suffered their third straight loss.

Losing pitcher Boof Bonser (3-5) yielded three runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings with no walks and eight strikeouts.
