Pakistan complains about cricket umpire

LONDON, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- The Pakistan Cricket Board has demanded the International Cricket Council investigate an umpire's conduct at a match where a player was accused of misconduct.

The board demanded an inquiry into umpire Darrell Hair's conduct be carried out before a disciplinary hearing for the captain of Pakistan's team, Inzamam-ul-Haq, the BBC reported Tuesday.

Pakistan's team was penalized five runs for ball tampering on the fourth day of The Oval Test, the BBC said. Inzamam's hearing is scheduled for the end of September.

"The PCB feels it was Darrell Hair who brought the game into disrepute at The Oval and not Pakistan," a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman said. He said the board would not allow Hair to officiate at any future matches involving the Pakistani team.

The ICC said it had received the letter from the Pakistan board, but a spokesman said the letter did not constitute a formal charge.
