BUFFALO, N.Y., Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Buffalo Bills Coach Dick Jauron said Tuesday that J.P. Losman will be the team's starting quarterback when the season opens at New England Sept. 10.
"J.P. will be our starting quarterback," said Jauron. "Everybody probably saw it coming and certainly the quarterbacks probably saw it coming. We talked to all three of them and J.P. will be our starter."
Losman, entering his third NFL season, beat out Kelly Holcomb and Craig Nall for the starting spot.
Losman began last season as the starting quarterback, lost the job to Holcomb four games into the season but was later reinstalled. He finished with 1,340 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions in nine games.
"Now I have to go prove it week in and week out to really get that trust," said Losman. "By week 4 or 5 they're going to know that I'm their guy. It's just going to take time and I'm just going to have to play the games. You constantly have to prove yourself to your teammates."
