WNBA: Detroit 79, Connecticut 55

UNCASVILLE, Conn., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Swin Cash had 16 points and eight rebounds as the Detroit Shock beat the Connecticut Sun, 79-55, Sunday night to take the WNBA Eastern Conference title.

Katie Smith added 16 points, Kara Braxton had 12 points and Cheryl Ford scored 10 for the Shock, who earned their second trip to the WNBA Finals.

Detroit will meet defending champion Sacramento Wednesday in the first game of a best-of-five series.

Taj McWilliams-Franklin had 12 points and Lindsay Whalen had 10 for the Sun, who were the two-time defending conference champs.
