Massa wins the Turkish Grand Prix

ISTANBUL, Turkey, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Brazil's Felipe Massa Sunday won the Formula One Turkish Grand Prix auto race at Istanbul, Turkey.

His Ferrari crossed the finish line 5.575 seconds ahead of Fernando Alonso (Renault), giving Massa the first win of his F1 career.

"Today is an incredible day that I will never forget," Massa said. "To take my first race win, especially with Ferrari, is a historic moment. I am very emotional and very happy. The championship is still open with four races to go."

Germany's Michael Schumacher (Ferrari) was third, Jenson Button (Honda) of England was fourth, and Spain's Pedro de la Rosa (McLaren) was fifth.

In spots 6-10 were Giancarlo Fisichella (Renault) of Italy; Ralf Schumacher (Toyota) of Germany; Rubens Barrichello (Honda) of Brazil; Jarno Trulli (Toyota) of Italy; and Mark Webber (Williams) of Australia.

In the points standings, Alonso leads with 108 points, Michael Schumacher is second with 96 points, and Massa is a distant third with 62 points.
