NFL: Kansas City 16, St. Louis 12

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- The Kansas City Chiefs posted a 16-12 preseason victory Saturday over the St. Louis Rams.

Michael Bennett and Larry Johnson rushed for 39 and 37 yards, respectively, and quarterback Trent Green connected on 8-of-12 passes for 100 yards.


Rams starter Marc Bulger was 7-of-11 for 78 yards with an interception. Backup Gus Frerotte threw for 135 yards and a score.

Frerotte connected with Jerome Collins for a 54-yard touchdown pass with 1:09 left in the third quarter to pull the Rams within seven. Remy Hamilton missed the extra point attempt, but converted on a 47-yard field goal early in the fourth to make it 16-12.
