KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Victor Martinez and Ryan Garko each hit solo home runs as the Cleveland Indians beat Kansas City, 8-4, Thursday night.
Andy Marte had three hits and three RBI; Hector Luna had three runs, two hits and two RBI; Jhonny Peralta had a run and three hits; while Franklin Gutierrez had two hits and one RBI for the Indians (58-68), who have six wins in their last 10 games.
Winner C.C. Sabathia (9-8) gave up four runs and 11 hits in eight innings with two walks and seven strikeouts.
Mike Sweeney hit a two-run homer and had three hits and three RBI; Ryan Shealy had three hits and one RBI; and David DeJesus, Emil Brown and Estaban German all had a run and two hits for the Royals (46-83), who have split their last 10 games.
In relief, the losing pitcher was Jimmy Gobble (3-5).
