Henin-Hardenne, Davenport advance

NEW HAVEN, Conn., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Justine Henin-Hardenne and Lindsay Davenport Friday advanced to the women's final at the Pilot Pen Tennis Classic in New Haven, Conn.

Henin-Hardenne, the second seed from Belgium, beat No. 5 Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia, 6-3, 6-3. Davenport, the seventh-seeded American, was a 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (9-7), winner over unseeded Samantha Stosur of Australia after a rain delay that lasted over three hours.

Henin-Hardenne improved to 12-1 lifetime against Kuznetsova, including 5-0 this year. She has beaten Davenport six straight times.

The winner in Saturday's final will pocket a first-prize check of $95,500.
