Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ATLANTA, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- A solo home run by Freddy Sanchez in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday night gave Pittsburgh a 5-4 win over the Atlanta Braves.
Jason Bay had two hits, including a solo home run, and two RBI; Jose Bautista had a run and two hits; while Chris Duffy and Jose Castillo both drove in a run for the Pirates (49-78), who have split their last six games.
In relief, the winner was Milt Capps (4-1). Mike Gonzalez earned his 23rd save.
Chipper Jones and Adam LaRoche had two RBI on a pair of solo homers, and Brian McCann hit an RBI single for the Braves (59-67), who had only six hits in their third loss in four games.
The losing pitcher was reliever Chad Paronto (1-1).
