LOS ANGELES, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Forward LaMarcus Aldridge of the NBA Portland Trailblazers, a No. 1 draft pick from Texas in June, has had surgery for a ligament tear in his right shoulder.
The 6-foot-11 inch, 237-pound Aldridge, who left Texas after his sophomore season, was a first-round pick by the Chicago Bulls, but was traded to the Trailblazers along with a future second-round pick from Chicago for forward Viktor Khryapa and the draft rights to Louisiana State forward Tyrus Thomas, the fourth overall pick.
On its Web site, the team said the surgery was preformed Wednesday by Dr. Neal Elattrache in Los Angeles at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic and that Aldridge is expected to return to the court in mid-to-late November.
He will return to Portland in 2-3 weeks, where he will continue rehabilitation.
At Texas last season, the Dallas native had per game averages of 15 points, 9.2 rebounds and two blocks.
