SOUTH AKRON, Ohio, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Adam Scott shot 7-under 63 Thursday to take a two-shot lead after one round of the World Golf Championships at South Akron, Ohio.
At 5-under 65, Jason Gore is alone in second place. Lucas Glover is third at 4-under 66.
"I drove the ball really well today, pretty long and straight, and had a lot of wedges," Scott said. "I hit a lot of shots five feet and in and took a lot of pressure off my putting."
Davis Love III, Michael Campbell, David Howell, David Toms, Luke Donald and defending World Golf Championships champion Tiger Woods share fourth place at 3-under 67.
"I didn't hit the ball very good starting out, but I fixed a couple of things on the back nine," admitted Woods. "I really played a pretty good back nine, then got myself four back of the lead."
Seven golfers are tied for 10th at 4-under 68.
