MLB: San Francisco 7, Arizona 6

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- The San Francisco Giants edged the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-6, Tuesday, helped by Omar Vizquel, who knocked in a pair of runs and also scored.

Arizona now has lost five of its last six games and has fallen four games behind Cincinnati in the National League Wild Card chase.

The Giants' Randy Winn scored twice; Eliezer Alfonzo scored and drove in a run.

San Francisco has won seven of its last nine games.

Giant pitcher Matt Cain threw seven innings, allowing a run on seven hits while striking out seven and walking one. He was left with the no-decision when relievers gave up several runs in the late innings.

Pitcher Mike Stanton ended up with the victory despite allowing two runs in the eighth.

Johnny Estrada went 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBI for Arizona.
